Changing the Look on your GNOME Desktop Part one - Docks and Taskbars

Adding Docks and Taskbars to CentOS 8

Now that we are situated in our new Operating System, let's change the look of your desktop.

Note: if you see something called a "Display Server", for our purposes, it is essentially just how it looks. If you see two options labeled "Xorg" and "Wayland", just choose one. Also, there will be some options labeled "Standard" and "Classic"- I am using Standard.

GNOME Tweaks

For changing the look of your desktop, the first thing you are gonna need is an app called "GNOME Tweaks". There are two ways to install this.

To install from the User Interface, simply open the GNOME Software app. Click the search button at the top of the app, and search "Tweaks".
Searching up Tweaks brings this up
When GNOME Tweaks pops up in the results list, click on it. Then click the install button.
When prompted, enter your password. The app will start installing. Once it is done, click lanch.

To install from the command line, type the following into your terminal.
sudo yum install gnome-tweaks

Enter your password when prompted. When it asks something ending with "[y/N]", type "y".

Problems installing? If there are problems, which I am sure you will encounter, keep retrying. If that doesn't work, add the Red Hat Repository:

subscription-manager repos --enable=rhel-8-for-x86_64-appstream-rpms

Once that is done, try it again. If it still doesn't work, try

sudo dnf install gnome-tweaks

Adding a Dock or Taskbar

The thing that you find on a Mac system is a Dock. The thing that you find on a Windows System is a Taskbar. Thankfully, both are available. There is more available on the GNOME Software catalog, so check it out!

To add a Dock from GNOME Tweaks, Go to the Extensions tab and toggle the "Dash to Dock" things.

To add a Dock or Taskbar from GNOME Software, just search up "Dash to". Dash to Dock and Dash to Panel (Taskbar) will show up. You can install either one. You can install both - but that will leave you with a cluttered desktop. I, personally,
